About

Dateline: June 21, 2008

On the first day of summer, I’ve launched a year-long project to convert my house & garden to an eco friendly, more sustainable urban habitat. I reside in Venice, California where ocean breezes keep things cool. No need for air conditioning here, well for most folks. The subject house is 100 years old and not insulated like contemporary homes. The house gets hot during the summer. The garden provides respite during these warm months. The subject garden started seventeen years ago, when I moved here from Hollywood with my dear friend Kristin. It is a lush and green environ, peaceful and serene. It also takes a lot of water and time to maintain. Not at all a sustainable garden.

Each day I will post the progress of this sustainability conversion project. My goal is to complete the project on June 20th, 2009.

Please feel free to leave comments and suggestions.

Peace,

Robert Sarkisian

  1. Hey Robert, Congratulations on committing to this project! I look forward to reading about and hearing from you regarding your progress over the year.

What is the primary picture a shot of? It’s not So Cal, is it? Looks more like the Central Coast, no?

  2. Matt,

Thanks for your supportive comments as I exit the starting gates with this project.

The blog header photo is the default image that comes with this Woodpress blog template. While it does look like the Californian central coast; I have a feeling it may be a European locale.

I am working on replacing this image with an original one that is authentic to this eco project. I’ve put together a panorama of several photos of the subject property, but not content with the result.

Until I create an original image that rings true, I will go with the default blog image. The current image has a connotation of equilibrium and eco balance representative of the ideals of this project.

Thanks for asking; Kristin had the same question as you.

    Robert
